Prometheus, the new prequel to Alien directed by Ridley Scott, is a dazzling visual spectacle. The story revolves around a team of scientists who venture to an alien world with the hope that they will discover some clues about the origins of humanity. In typical blockbuster style everything doesn't go to plan.
The film's visual effects from start to finish are stunning. You'll immediately be sucked into the sci-fi world that Ridley Scott creates and believe that the technology showcased would fit the timeframe of the 2090's. Unfortunately, much like Avatar, it's the visual effects alone that make the film worth watching.
The movie's main premise could have been interesting (human origins), but the story disappoints and thus the idea falters. Put simply, you won't care about any of the characters. What's more, for an Alien prequel, the film does not keep true to the sci-fi horror genre with only one scene that's truly grueling.
Worth a watch for the amazing visuals, but simply another empty blockbuster. 6.5/10
